Field Archery Returns to Crawley!

 In News

Dear Crawley Archers & Associate Archers

It is with great pleasure that we can formally announce that over the next few months Crawley Archery Club in conjunction with Driverwood Paintball will be establishing a new Field (woodland) archery course, in addition to our existing venues!

We have negotiated a package that for £7 per shoot will give access to the woodland course, safe enclosed parking, an excellent cafe including hot food with a vegetarian/vegan option, warm dry flushing toilets (no more portable loos!), internet access over WiFi and mobile phone points. The course will initially be available on Saturdays and Sundays with a view to looking at the possibility of weekday shooting further down the line.

While this is a change to a per shoot cost like the Indoors sessions over the included price we used to have for our field course Driverwood wished to start on this basis to see how many of you would like to use the facility, this will be reviewed after the first year.

Over the next few months, the club will be looking to:

1) Remove all of our stands & bosses from the old field course at Furnace Wood
2) Move everything to Driverwood’s site
3) Design a new Field Course
4) Install an initial 12 targets by the end of the year at Driverwood and start shooting, with a view to a full 24 targets in 2019

There is obviously a lot of work to be undertaken in the coming months with getting the targets in position and cut down/trim bushes and trees to make the shooting paths and walkways.

We will need as many volunteers as possible to help get this set up – the committee will send out requests closer to the time via Facebook & e-Mail, so stay tuned!

Attached are some pictures that came from a recent visit to the forest, you can also find out more about the facility by visiting the Driverwood website here.

If you have any queries about the new course please get in touch.

We are excited about this  new chapter for the club, and are looking forward to seeing some old faces back on the line!
